8WeeklyOn paper, GRIMM is a revival of a production staged by ISH Dance Collective and Junior Company in 2018. However, this revamped version has clearly matured over the years. It is stronger, tighter and more precise.

Het ParoolISH Dance Collective and the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company are restaging the production, and what a treat that is. With a largely new cast, the formula works like a charm once again.
The mystery that Ahlbom invariably manages to evoke in his work goes hand in hand with the giggling mischief that gives Gerris' work such a delightful airiness - Parool.

The dancers behind GRIMM speak out
In the season brochure, two dancers who formed the very first cast of GRIMM in 2018 shared their experiences: ISH dancer Raquel Tijsterman and Manu Kumar, now a dancer with the Dutch National Ballet. Tijsterman explains how she acted as a bridge between the two dance worlds, and how she transformed Cinderella into a headstrong, salsa-dancing tough girl. Kumar describes how the encounter between the disciplined world of ballet and the free-spirited, creative energy of ISH set something special in motion — and how the ISH dancers still amaze him with their freestyles during the interval.
