Studio ISH

Every week we organize beginner's classes especially for children and young people in our studios in New West.

Our studio program has activities for children and young people who love breaking, house, hiphop or street dance, or who just want to have fun dancing and moving. At ISH Academy, we teach not just skills, but we help you find and extend on your own creativity and talents– that’s why we call it ‘creative movement’ classes. Schedule

Studio ISH has classes for children aged 6-9 years and young people aged 10 - 14 years. No experience is needed. Classes take place on:

Wednesday from 16:00 - 17:00: 6 - 9 years old
Wednesdays from 18:00 - 19:30: 10 - 14 years old

Lessons season 2024-2025

Classes at Studio ISH will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. Classes at Studio ISH work with three periods. More information about the class periods will be available soon.

There are no classes from October 20 to 26.
Presentation day: Saturday, December 13

You register to participate in an entire block. You can take a trial class from September 17-2025 to see if Studio ISH is for you.

*We do not offer lessons during the school holidays.

Coaching and lessons

During the lessons, you will develop skills according to the ISH idea. You come into contact with different styles and forms of movement. This will help you learn how your body works and discover your own dance style.
ISH Academy teachers give assignments, devise exercises and help you develop your skills and creativity. A lesson lasts 1.5 hours. Before the break, participants are taught one dance style. After a short break, a second discipline is taught by a different teacher.

Costs

For participation in the classes, ISH uses the ‘pay what you want principle’, where parents determine their own contribution based on what they can pay. For those who cannot afford the lessons, ISH can offer them free of charge thanks to a contribution from the ELJA Foundation. If you have questions about the ISH Academy, please contact Loraine Pengel, education & community member, at 06-39344087. You don't have to reserve to participate, but one of your parents or carers should inscribe you at your first visit. Use the registration form on this page to register.

Location

ISH Academy can be found at Podium Lely, Schipluidenlaan 10. The location is three minutes walk from Station Lelylaan and can be easily accessed with the bike, the car and public transport (train, metro, bus, tram) Our building is shared with Circus Lab Amsterdam.
