Till Death Do Us Part (or Not)
Dark love in an explosive mix of hip-hop and dance
To John, Stella appears to be the perfect wife: caring, patient and dutiful. In reality, she quietly endures her husband’s cold and controlling behaviour. Trapped in a suffocating marriage, she has slowly lost herself, stripped of her personal freedom and affection.
Power, revenge and macabre humour
When her terminally ill husband agrees to take part in a medical experiment that keeps him artificially alive, the balance of power shifts. Stella sees an opportunity to reclaim her freedom. In the macabre and humorous performance Till Death Do Us Part (or Not), themes such as power dynamics, revenge and medical ethics come to life through explosive string music, hip-hop and acrobatic dance.
Explosive music and acrobatic dance
Amsterdam Sinfonietta and ISH Dance Collective join forces in a performance that brings classical music and hip-hop dance together. Amsterdam Sinfonietta, led by artistic director and violinist Candida Thompson, performs works by Bach, Golijov, Wallen, Kilar, Nyman, Martinov and others, creating a rich musical world that heightens the emotional intensity of the story.
