Paramaribo Dreams
Step into the world of Paramaribo Dreams, an intimate family performance by Carl Refos (10+) about leaving behind the familiar and discovering new possibilities. In an energetic mix of dance, spoken word, and percussion, Carl takes you on his personal journey from Suriname to the Netherlands and from childhood to adulthood.
Paramaribo
At the age of ten, Carl boards a plane in Paramaribo with his parents and brothers, filled with fantasies about the unknown Netherlands. There, he builds a new life and discovers his greatest passion: dance. As he masters spectacular moves, he not only grows as a dancer, but also learns to overcome his fears. Paramaribo Dreams is an adventurous performance for all ages about the power of believing in yourself.
About Carl Refos
Carl Refos has been part of ISH since the very beginning and appeared in many of Marco Gerris’ productions until 2016 as a breaker, rapper, beatboxer, and MC. A true multi-talent, Refos now also works as a singer with the Dutch National Touring Opera (Nederlandse Reisopera) and frequently performs with the Silbersee ensemble. In 2021, he created Broerszussen for ISH a successful dance theatre performance for primary school children that, due to the pandemic, unfortunately saw very limited performances. Paramaribo Dreams was developed under the ISH Talent banner, through which ISH supports promising new makers in their professional growth.
