Open Call for makers
Over the past ten years, the Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective have shown through several successful collaborative projects how ballet and hip hop can complement and strengthen each other. Through the NextSteps programme, we aim to give a new generation of makers the opportunity to explore the synergy between these two dance forms.
Within NextSteps, emerging creators are given the space to develop short choreographies for professional dancers, with ballet and hip hop as equal starting points. The programme offers an inspiring environment for artistic research, experimentation and exchange, and forms a bridge between styles, worlds and generations.
NextSteps is intended for new creators from different dance backgrounds and concludes each year with presentations in which the developed work is shared with the public. Keep an eye on the website for current performance dates and more information.
New edition 2026
The third edition will take place in 2026, on 26 and 27 June 2026 at Studio Boekman at the Dutch National Ballet.
