Workshop DJANGAN!?
Are you visiting DJANGAN! with your class? Prepare your students with a workshop in which they explore, through movement, how family, heritage, and the past shape their own identity.
What do you carry with you from home without even realizing it?
In DJANGAN! (Indonesian for "don't do it"), a family is at the center of the story, where war trauma moves through the house as an invisible presence. What remains unspoken shapes the atmosphere.
Four performers portray a family in which every movement carries meaning. The performance moves between protection and control, between holding on and letting go.
Choreographer Cheroney Pelupessy blends urban contemporary dance with traditional dance and music to create a powerful family portrait. Themes such as identity, heritage, and the lasting impact of the past are brought close to home, making the performance both relatable and relevant for students.
DJANGAN! reveals the profound impact of what remains unsaid.
