Femke Monaghan van Wachem
On 1 August 2026, Femke Monaghan van Wachem will take up the post of director of ISH Dance Collective. Femke succeeds Jerry Remkes, who is stepping down after five as director and a half years. In her new role, she works closely with Marco Gerris, artistic director and founder of ISH.
Femke Monaghan van Wachem brings with her extensive experience at the intersection of culture and entrepreneurship. She is currently the managing director of De Balie, where she has been working since 2020. Prior to that, she spent five years as managing director of Comedytrain & Toomler, and held management positions at the Scheepvaartmuseum and Boom Chicago.
Edwin van Balken, Chair of the Supervisory Board: “We are delighted to welcome Femke. We are confident that she will shape the company’s continued growth and its significance for dance and the community in an energetic and positive manner.”
Femke Monaghan van Wachem: “ISH Dance Collective is a place where talent develops, is shared and passed on, where a community finds and strengthens one another. ISH is versatile, breaks with tradition and does not limit itself to a single style or form. I am convinced that this strength can reach even further and I look forward to contributing to that.”
Under the leadership of Jerry Remkes, ISH Dance Collective has grown into a firmly established company within the national and international dance scene. The Supervisory Board and the artistic team are convinced that, together with Femke Monaghan van Wachem, this position can be further expanded. We would like to thank Jerry for his dedication over the past five and a half years and extend a warm welcome to Femke at ISH.
