Vainergill Thurnim (Amsterdam, 1997)
Vainergill Thurnim is an Amsterdam-based freelance dancer, choreographer, teacher and event producer. She did preliminary training at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts and graduated in 2020 from the Docent Dans, Academie voor Theater en Dans. Thurnim connects commercial and contemporary dance with West African dance aesthetics. She uses dance to create deep understanding and empathy for human emotions and experiences and to connect individuals and communities. In 2023 and 2024, Vainergill Thurnim was programmed at Podium Mozaïek's RRReuring festival. She also collaborated with choreographers Alida Dors and Roshanak Morrowatian. This coming season she will choreograph the ITA Jr. performance and teach classes at CREA.
