Lara Wakelkamp

As a theater maker, Lara began her ISH journey in the New Makers program, where talented creators develop performances in the ISH tradition under the guidance of artistic director Marco Gerris. Her debut, "Wat Niemand Had Verwacht" (2016), explored themes of depression and psychosis, offering a glimpse into the human psyche through a unique combination of dance, theater, and sound. She later directed "DWANG" (2017) and "Uit Mijn Handen" (2022), which respectively addressed obsessive-compulsive disorder and the moving story surrounding the Columbine school shooting. At ISH, Lara found the ideal environment to realize her artistic vision: creating performances that work preventively and informatively for young people, precisely at the moment when their self-image and worldview are in transformation.
