Swan Lake Remixed for ADE
During Amsterdam Dance Event, Swan Lake Remixed is part of the cultural opening act: a large-scale live experience in which classical ballet, hip-hop dance, electronic music and digital art come together in the monumental Gashouder. You’ve never experienced Swan Lake like this before!
Het Nationale Ballet, ISH Dance Collective, Amsterdam Dance Event and Gashouder are bringing their worlds together around one of the most iconic ballets ever created. The story of Swan Lake – about longing, freedom, temptation and the tension between light and dark – takes on a new, urgent form in the refurbished Gashouder. For the questions underlying this famous ballet may well feel more relevant today than ever before: who are you allowed to be, what do you give in to, and how do you find your own path between the temptation of darkness and the longing for light?
Featuring dancers from the Dutch National Ballet and the Junior Company, performers from ISH and established guest dancers from various dance worlds, this production creates a performance in which tradition and innovation reinforce one another. Physical, compelling and an experience to be enjoyed only here and now.
Swan Lake Remixed builds on earlier productions such as GRIMM and Dorian, in which Het Nationale Ballet and ISH demonstrated how classical ballet and urban culture can challenge, complement and enhance one another. Swan Lake Remixed is a production A production in the 30 YEARS ADE Icon Series by the Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective, in collaboration with Gashouder and XSAGA and made possible in part by the Zadelhoff Cultural Fund.
