Marco Gerris at Project Dance
In the brand new NPO 1 program Project Dans, 30 dance talents are challenged to prove themselves as the best all-round dancer in the Netherlands. They undergo intensive training in which they have to master various dance styles, from ballet to hip-hop and from African dance to jazz dance, until one winner remains in the finals. Marco Gerris, artistic director, is guest jury member for the program. The icing on the cake for the winner of Project Dans a role in ISH Dance Collective's new performance.

The participants in Project Dance all share the dream of a successful dance career. Some already have some stage experience, while others are only now getting serious about their dance passion. Under the guidance of enthusiastic coaches Natascha Dejong and Nicholas 'Shaker' Singer, 10 selected candidates will eventually embark on this dance adventure, challenging them time and again to push their limits and perform at the highest level. Shaker: "I think dancing as a profession is pretty undervalued, it belongs in top sports. In Project Dance we show what's involved."
Each episode focuses on one dance style, with a leading choreographer always taking the participants and viewers through the origins and background of that style.

The permanent professional jury consists of Scapino Ballet artistic director Ed Wubbe and 3-time world champion Hiphop Jennifer Romen. Together with an independent audience jury they judge the performances and choose one dancer each week to leave Project Dance until one winner remains in the final.
